About Me

Hi, I’m Zack.

And I’m a musician currently living in Austin, TX.

“As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a [composer].”

And ever since my dad brought home an old Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), I’ve been hooked on video game music (VGM) in particular. The music of some of the great VGM composers of our time (namely, Koji Kondo, Soyo Oka, Kazumi Totaka, Jake Kaufman, etc.) had a tremendous impact on my development, especially in my formative years. There’s absolutely no mistaking the strong influence of VGM: harmonic language (i.e. jazz/extended harmony) and timbre/instrumentation (e.g. lo-fi samples and soundfonts) in particular. LISTEN for yourself.

Anyway, if you’re here reading this, please know that I’m grateful for your time. Don’t hesitate to CONTACT ME if you like what you hear, if you’re interested in hiring me for your next project, if you’re interested in studying music (composition, piano, theory, etc.) with me, or if you want simply to say “hi.”
